

Know More About XAT Question Papers
XAT exam consists an objective paper and the duration is 2 hours. There are three sections in XAT question paper:
- Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning
- Analytical Reasoning and Decision Making.
- Data Interpretation and Quantitative Ability
XAT exam also has negative marking. So, one should move slowly and attempt questions one is sure about in XAT papers. A low attempt will not mean that you will not be able to score good and clear cut-off. One should focus more on accuracy instead of maximizing attempt and losing marks due to negative marking in XAT question paper.
XAT 2010 Paper
XAT 2010 paper had three sections with 31 questions in Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning section, 40 questions in Data Interpretation & Quantitative Ability and 30 questions in Analytical Reasoning & Decision Making. There was XAT essay and students were given 20 minutes to write on the topic “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs but not every man’s greed”
The Verbal section was the one where students could maximize their scores. Unlike previous year papers, there was no question on Figures of Speech and they were replaced by questions on Vocabulary. The cut-off in this section was expected to be around 10. The questions in Analytical Reasoning section were time consuming. The questions on Decision Making were easy but two close options made selecting the correct answer difficult. The key to score good in this section was to leave time consuming logic puzzles. There were difficult and time consuming questions on DI. However, there were some easy questions Quantitative section and one could have easily attempted those.
Data Interpretation section was the most difficult section in XAT 2010 Paper. It is suggested that students drop difficult questions and focus more on the easier questions. Figuring out easier questions in XAT papers is very important to get a good score in the exam. Design a strategy that can be modified in the last minute if need be.
XAT 2009 Paper
XAT 2009 paper was tougher than previous year papers. There were three sections in XAT 2009 paper and total numbers of questions were 104. There was negative marking in XAT question paper. The Verbal and Logical Ability section had 35 questions and tested skills on English usage and Reading Comprehension. The questions were tough and one could have easily attempted around 15 questions.
The Quantitative Ability and DI section tested skills on Mathematical Ability, Data Sufficiency, Data Interpretation areas. There were 38 questions of medium level difficulty. An attempt of around 16 questions in 45 minutes was considered as good.
The Analytical Reasoning section had questions on Logical Reasoning and Decision Making. There were 31 questions in this section. The questions were of moderate level and one could have easily attempted
15-16 questions.
